Our Supporters

An amazing event occurred in Lawrencetown in 2010 during a bid for the cross-country Kraft Hockeyville crown.  One story of innovative hard work in support of our community rink caught the attention of the judges and we were catapulted to nationwide attention.

The following two weeks were an extraordinary journey.  The outpouring of support for our bid grew until a fire seemed lit under our feet.  People and communities began voting for "the little rink that could" and we were thrilled to find ourselves in the Top 5 finalists.  The fire of community spirit grew to an overwhelming, heartfelt enthusiasm in helping a small rural Nova Scotia community preserve its forty year old, volunteer-built arena. Enthusiasts around the world joined in voting and encouraging us, and we were overwhelmed by all the warmth and support.

This experience encouraged us to forge ahead with a project to replace our aging rink with a NEW ARENA, a community arena that will be there for the upcoming generation, their children, and grandchildren.

With the receipt of $25,000 from Kraft, the Capital Replacement Fund now stands at $50,000! The profit from the Dinner/Auction has pushed us to $57,700. These funds are committed to the construction of the New Lawrencetown Exhibition Youth Arena and we are engaging in a fundraising campaign that will see this dream become reality as quickly as possible.

We are in the planning stages for the new building, awaiting a figure for the total cost of replacement. Our preliminary figures indicate a minimum fundraising goal of $150,000 and we have set this amount as our initial goal. With in-kind work, in-kind donations, the purchase of good used equipment, and applications for grants, we anticipate the $150,000 turning into the total funds required.

We'd love to have you be a part of this adventure!  We are seeking donations and appreciate any help that you are able to offer. All donations are added directly to the
Capital Replacement Fund and we will keep everyone up-to-date with our progress, on this website. Join the team - we're on our way!!
